About the Event :

Blackout Poetry gives you the opportunity to create new works by removing words from any printed text to change its meaning. The possibilities are endless!

In this workshop, CL Gamble will introduce you to the blackout poetry method which was used to create their artwork "Between The Lines". Blocking out certain words creates new meanings we are in control of. Poetry emerges through a process of elimination, paring down the text until it is transformed into something new.

Attendees will need a marker/biro/tippex and written materials to alter - photocopied book pages, magazine articles, letters - anything which forms a body of text.

Hosted in partnership with CL Gamble and Dundee Healthy Minds Network as part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival. The Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival is taking place this year between 3rd- 23rd May. The festival now in its 15th year, is one of Scotland's most diverse cultural events, covering everything from music, film and visual art to theatre, dance, and literature. The festival aims to support the arts, explore how engagement in the arts can help prevent mental ill health, and challenge mental health stigma. We will be sharing some more info about the festival soon and how you can get involved. You can see the full programme at- https://www.mhfestival.com/whats-on
