About the Event :
Please join libraries across the state on Tuesday, March 9 for a panel discussion on Mental Health Supports for Disaster Preparedness and Recovery. The meeting will be hosted by NorthNet Library System’s Preparing to Respond and Recover Together project. Following recent wildfires and during the ongoing response to COVID-19, libraries have played a crucial role in community mental health, serving as a source of refuge, providing vital human connection, and linking patrons with essential resources.
Libraries are also reflecting on how they can better prepare to support the mental health of staff, volunteers and patrons. How can libraries encourage increased resilience before, during and after a disaster? During this panel discussion, mental health professionals and library presenters from across the state will share:
- Practices that you can use immediately to help build resilience
- Ways to educate staff and volunteers on the role of trauma and traumatic stress
- Programming ideas to promote community recovery
- How to work with city, county and community partners to promote mental health
- Tools and resources from LibraryRecovery.org, NorthNet’s new website supporting disaster preparedness, response and recovery
The discussion is appropriate for library staff at all levels and will be held on Zoom from 10–11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 9. Register today.
We look forward to seeing you soon for this important conversation.
*Zoom link will be provided after registering for the event.
