About the Event :

Research has robustly and consistently shown that identities with a history of oppression, such as people of color, members of the LGBTQI community and women, among others, experience increased negative physical and mental health symptoms related to perceived discrimination at work (source). The social justice protests of summer 2020 served as a catalyst for many organizations to actively focus on increasing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts in their workplaces and to demonstrate support for the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement (source). In the months following, many corporations have pledged a renewed support for increasing and promoting diversity in the workforce and donated millions of dollars to causes supporting BLM. Six months after the initial protests, how do we maintain momentum to continue creating the change we seek?

This interactive workshop will explore:

  • the relationship between mental health and racial equity
  • strategies to address systemic workplace issues related to DEI
  • practices that individuals and organizations can take to hold their workplace accountable to the promise of promoting racial justice and improving workplace mental health

We strongly encourage you to view the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Employee Mental Health webinar on our website ahead of the event as it will provide context for the discussion. You can access it on our website here (navigate to "Resources and webinars").
